Pavel Nazarov is a Senior Research Scientist at the Department of Bioenergetics, Belozersky
Institute of Physico-Chemical Biology, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow and an
Assistant Professor at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology (MIPT), Russia.
Pavel graduated from Moscow State University [BS|MS (Biochemistry)(1998)] then completed a
research PhD in 2003 [PhD (Candidate of Science) (Biology)] in Moscow State University. Pavel
received training as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia,
USA), worked as a patent examiner at the Russian Patent Office. In 2014 Pavel joined as a Senior
Research Scientist at the Belozersky Institute of Moscow State University.
From 2017 to 2019 Pavel was elected as an American Society for Microbiology (ASM) Young
Ambassador for Russia, and he is currently ASM Country Ambassador for Russia. This year Pavel
served as a committee chair of the Keivin Burns Award for the Spectroscopy Society of
Pittsburgh.
Since 2014 Pavel has 42 peer-reviewed publications (5 in the 2023 year), supervised 9 BS|MS
students. Pavel is a member of the 3 editorial boards, including Frontiers in Cellular and Infection
Microbiology, is a guest editor for national and international journals such as Bulletin of Russian
State Medical University, Pharmaceuticals, Antibiotics, International Journal of Molecular
Sciences. Pavel peer-reviewed manuscripts in such journals as the International Journal of
Molecular Sciences, Viruses, PLoS One, Clinical Microbiology Reviews. He is a regular invited
speaker nationally and internationally (6 in the last year).
