Marina V. Karakozova is a Senior Research Scientist at the Department of Bioenergetics, Belozersky Institute of Physico-Chemical Biology, Lomonosov Moscow State University, Moscow. In 1988 she graduated from Moscow State University (BS|MS Virology) then she got PhD in Biology (Molecular Genetics) from the Institute of Gene Biology of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS). Marina received training as a postdoctoral researcher at the University of Pennsylvania (Philadelphia, USA) and the University of Pittsburgh (Pittsburgh, USA) worked as a researcher at the Institute of the General Genetics RAS (Moscow, Russia), Research Centre for Medical Genetics (Moscow, Russia) and Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology (Moscow, Russia). In 2022 Marina joined as a Senior Research Scientist at the Belozersky Institute of Moscow State University. Marina's articles have been published in leading scientific journals such as Science, Genetics, Frontiers in Microbiology. From 2018 to 2019 Marina was elected to the American Society for Microbiology (ASM) ASM Country Ambassador for Russia.
